Volleyball Stays Perfect in Conference with 3-2 Win over AIC

SPRINGFIELD, MA – Molly Cindric (Westlake Village,
CA) tallied 18 kills, 11 digs, and two service aces
leading Merrimack to a 3-2 win over American International Saturday
afternoon.
Game scores were 25-10, 23-25, 25-11, 21-25, 15-9.
Three other players, Ale Kuncaitis (Canton, MA), Lisa Barr
(Alberta, Canada), and Elyse Lorenz (Frankfort,
IL) also posted double-doubles as the Warriors improved to
4-0 in the conference, with a big match against Bentley College
looming on Tuesday night at the Volpe Gym.
Kuncaitis tallied 19 digs and 12 kills, while Barr added 17 digs,
14 kills and hit .364. Lorenz notched 47 assists and 10 digs.
Merrimack came out strong, forcing 10 Yellow Jacket attack errors
and winning the first set 25-10. After dropping a close 23-25
second set, the Warriors hit .414 and had 14 kills, cruising to a
25-11 third set victory. After losing the fourth 21-25, Kuncaitis
led the way in the fifth, as the senior captain posted six digs and
five kills in a 15-9 fifth set.
The Warriors (9-7, 4-0 NE-10) host Bentley College Tuesday night
at 7 p.m. The Falcons, who were the preseason conference favorite,
were shutout by Merrimack 3-0 in the Northeast-10 Semifinals a year
ago.
