
LOWELL, MA - The Merrimack volleyball team picked up two victories Saturday defeating Franklin Pierce 3-2 and UMass Lowell 3-0. Both matches are non-conference games.
Game scores against the Ravens were 23-25, 23-25, 25-11, 25-13, 15-11. They downed Lowell 25-16, 25-7, 25-18.
Down 0-2 to the Ravens after losing the first two sets by identical 23-25 scores, Merrimack never quit and stormed back, getting two big wins 25-11 and 25-13 in the next two sets before closing the match out 15-11.
Sophomore Molly Cindric compiled 19 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Sophomore MB Megan Murray added nine kills and five service aces while junior OH Lisa Barr had eight kills.
Sophomore Alyssa Pickert led the defense with 20 digs and sophomore S Elysa Lorenz dished out 47 assists.
Merrimack put away the Riverhawks early winning the first two sets 25-16, 25-7 and closing it out with a 25-18 victory.
Cindric registered 11 kills, seven digs and three blocks. Barr added nine kills while senior MB Ale Kuncaitis chipped in seven kills and 11 digs and senior MB Alison Martin tallied seven kills. Lorenz dealt 38 assists while Pickert led the Warrior defense with 21 digs.
Cindric and Pickert were named to the All-Tournament team for their
efforts this weekend. Also on the team are Janelle Murdock, Angie
Casado, Lisamary Figueroa, GCU, Elsa LeGrand and Nichole Rondeau,
UML, and Emily Schultz, FPU.
The Warriors (4-4) will take on Franklin Pierce on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Rindge, NH.
