Womens Tennis Falls to Stonehill 5-2 in NCAA Tournament

EASTON, MA – Making its NCAA Tournament debut, the
Merrimack women’s tennis team fell to Stonehill College 5-2
Thursday afternoon in first-round action of east regional play.
Merrimack, seeded seventh in the east region, finishes its season
10-9 overall. The second-ranked Skyhawks (20-3), who captured the
Northeast-10 regular season and postseason championship, advance to
play the winner of #3 Queens and #6 Saint Michael’s on Friday
at Stonehill.
All-conference second-team selection Christina
Lucin won both of her matches, winning 6-3, 6-0 in #2
singles and teaming with Stellina Saia in #2
doubles for an 8-5 victory. Courtney Garvey and
Elise Dufour dropped a tightly-contested 9-7 match
at #3 doubles.
Lucin won both of her matches earlier this season in a 7-2 loss to
the Skyhawks.
