Women’s Tennis Sees Season End with 5-4 Loss to Saint Michael’s


COLCHESTER, VT – The Merrimack women’s tennis team was eliminated Tuesday, losing to fourth-ranked Saint Michael’s 5-4 in the Northeast-10 Quarterfinals.

With the win, the Purple Knights advance to the Northeast-10 Semifinals where they will battle top-ranked Stonehill Thursday at 3 p.m. The loss eliminates the fifth-ranked Warriors as they finish the season 10-8.

Similar to last Saturday’s match, a 5-4 victory for Saint Michael’s at Merrimack, the Purple Knights took two of three doubles matches, before Christina Lucin, Amanda Carroll, and Stellina Saia took charge in #2-4 singles to get the Warriors back in the match.

Emily Ogilvy, as she did on Saturday, won the decisive match at #6 singles 7-5, 6-4 over Courtney Garvey. The Warriors led 4-3 with two singles matches left before Eileen Mullowney and Ogilvy rounded out the competition with Purple Knight victories.

Carroll won two matches on the day, also teaming with Caitlin Dunn for an 8-2 victory in #1 doubles.
