Women's Soccer Scores Six in Win Over NYIT

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Opening their 2009 home schedule with the first of nine games at Warrior Field this fall, the Merrimack College women’s soccer team (2-0-1, 0-0 NE-10) earned a non-conference win over New York Tech on Wednesday afternoon, 6-1.
Senior co-captain Gabrielle Gramprey (Brockton,
MA) led the Warriors offense with a pair of goals and an assist,
including her second in the 50th minute to push the lead to 3-0.
Gramprey now has a team-best five goals on the season.
Sophomore forward Kara Hennigan (Pawtucket, RI)
matched Gramprey’s pair of goals and assist,
including her first goal on the season to break a
scoreless tie 5:28 into play.
Senior co-captain Brittany Gustafson (East
Hampton, CT) registered her second win on the season in net, making
two saves in the home-opener.
For the Bears, freshman Heather Kasper (Port Jefferson Station, NY)
scored the lone goal for the visitors. In net, sophomore goalkeeper
Kathryn Miller (Doylestown, PA) stopped eight shots in a game the
Warriors fired 28 shots, 14 of which were on net.
The Warriors continue a three-game home stand on Saturday,
September 5 at 1:30pm against Northeast-10 Conference rival,
Assumption College (0-1, 0-1 NE-10).
