Women’s Soccer Suffers First Loss of Season to Saint Anselm Saturday

MANCHESTER, NH - Jennifer Pearl scored twice and added two assists to hand the Merrimack women's soccer team its first loss of the season, a 4-0 decision to Saint Anselm Saturday afternoon.

The game was scoreless through the first half, but Mary Kate Heavey got the Hawks on the board in the 48th minute off a corner kick, with Pearl getting the assist. The Hawks would score three times in an 11:07 span midway through the second half to put the game out of reach.

Shannon Rowan stopped three shots in the loss, as Gabrielle Gramprey tallied four of Merrimack's eight shots. The Warriors had eight corner kicks but could not get one past Hawks goaltender Jacqueline Cooney.

The Warriors (2-1-2, 0-1-1 NE-10) host Bentley College Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in the team's home opener.
