Women’s Soccer Earns Tie with Dowling

OAKDALE, NY - The Merrimack women's soccer team tied Dowling College 3-3 Monday afternoon in a non-conference matchup.

The Warriors led 3-2 before Dowling's Kristin Cipriano tied it in the 85th minute. Dowling then fired seven of its 23 shots in overtime with Shannon Rowan (Fair Haven, NJ) making four saves in the extra 30 minutes.

Lindsey deMont (Littleton, MA) scored just 6:25 into the match scoring unassisted for her first of the season.

After Dowling scored twice in a 3:36 span midway through the first half, Merrimack responded as Jessica Peacock (Hopedale, MA) and Kerri Domohowski (Saugus, MA) scored 11 minutes apart, in the 40th and 51st minute with Jackie Vickers (Norwell, MA) and Caitlin Hall (Westminster, MA) getting the assist on Domonhowski's goal which gave Merrimack the lead.

Vickers later missed a penalty kick with the chance to extend the lead to 4-2.

They held the lead for nearly the entire second half before Dowling stormed back to tie the game.

Rowan made 13 saves as Dowling outshot Merrimack 23-16.

The Warriors (2-0-1, 0-0 NE-10), who have ten goals from nine different players in three games, continue their road trip at Nyack on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match.
