Womens Soccer Opens Season at Doubletree Classic Friday

COLCHESTER, VT. - The women's soccer team will open its 2008 season Friday in the Doubletree Invitational against Molloy College at 2 p.m.
The Warriors round out the tournament, hosted by Saint Michael's, Saturday against Bloomfield at 10 a.m.
Led by captains Nikki Abruzzese (Morris Plains, NJ), Jen Conway (Douglas, MA) and Caitlin Hall (Westminster, MA), Merrimack, who was picked to finish third in the Northeast-10 in the preseason coaches poll, will play its first six matches away from North Andover, before hosting Bentley on September 17.
Merrimack defeated UMass Lowell 1-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season before falling to top-seed Saint Rose 3-1.
The Warriors have nine newcomers, six freshmen, and return leading scorer Gabrielle Gramprey (Brockton, MA). This tournament also marks the return to Saint Michael's for Carissa Gildea (Enfield, CT) who led the Purple Knights in scoring in 2007 with nine goals and 21 points.
