Women's Soccer Wins 4-0 Tuesday; Will Host Playoff Game Sunday (5 p.m.)
WALTHAM, MA. – The Merrimack women’s soccer team did
its job in the regular season finale defeating Bentley College 4-0
Tuesday afternoon.
Then the Assumption Greyhounds helped Merrimack out, tying
Stonehill 0-0 Tuesday night, giving Merrimack fourth place, by way
of a tiebreaker over Stonehill.
The Warriors will host the fifth-seed Skyhawks Sunday at Warrior
Field at 5 p.m.
Merrimack scored four goals in the second half in 20:01. Amy
Pelletier, Julie Anderson, Gabrielle Gramprey and Paola Contreras
picked up the goals, while Shannon Rowan (four saves) and Liz Matts
(one save) combined for the clean sheet.
Contreras’ goal was her first of her career and came on a
penalty kick in the 82nd minute.
Gramprey scored her team-leading ninth goal, while Pelletier
tallied her second and Anderson her seventh.
Anderson also picked up an assist on Pelletier’s goal, which
was Merrimack’s first of the game and came in the 62nd
minute.
Merrimack, ranked fourth in the New England region, finishes the
regular season 11-3-4 (9-3-3 NE-10).
