Women's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Tie with Pace

BRIARCLIFF, NY - The Merrimack women's soccer team battled the Pace University Setters to a scoreless double overtime tie Saturday afternoon at Pace Field in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action.

The Setters move to 2-4-2 overall on the season and 0-3-2 in NE-10 play, while the Warriors go to 5-0-3 overall and 2-0-2 in conference play.

The Warriors came into the match receiving votes in the latest NSCAA/adidas Division II women's soccer National Rankings, while ranking fourth in the current NSCAA/adidas Division II women's soccer New England Regional Ranking.

The keepers were the stars of the game as Merrimack senior Shannon Rowan (Fair Haven, NJ and Pace freshman Alexa DAgostino tried to out do the other. Both net minders played the entire 110-minute game, as Rowan finished with nine saves, while DAgostino finished with a career-high 14 saves on her way to posting her first career shutout.

The Warriors out shot the Setters 32-13 and also held the corner kick advantage 6-3.  Both teams played a physical game as Merrimack was whistled for 13 fouls, while Pace was whistled for 11.

Merrimack (5-0-3, 2-0-2 NE-10) will visit Southern Connecticut Wednesday.
