Womens Lacrosse Defeats Franklin Pierce 21-10

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack women’s lacrosse
team picked up its third straight win Thursday, defeating Franklin
Pierce University 21-10 at Warrior Field.
The Warriors (6-7, 6-3 NE-10) will clinch fourth-place in the
Northeast-10 with a win Saturday over Southern Connecticut.
Saturday’s game will start at 12 p.m. at Warrior Field with
senior day festivities beginning at 11:45 a.m.
Merrimack jumped to a 7-0 lead 11:23 into the first half behind
two goals from Mia Basile. But the Ravens
responded scoring seven unanswered goals over the next 8:04, with
Jordan Baillargeon and Mary Kate Stille each scoring three goals to
even the score. The hosts finished the half with four straight
goals, with Mia Basile getting two more to take an 11-7 halftime
lead.
The first half saw eight yellow cards, five from Franklin Pierce,
with two Ravens earning two yellow cards each.
The Warriors put up six of the first seven goals over the first
14:53, with Christina McCarron scoring her 22nd of
the season to up the lead to 17-8. Merrimack outscored the visitors
10-3 in the second half and scored 14 of the final 17 goals after
the game was tied at seven.
Mia Basile finished with six goals and eight points, while
Lauren Leddy added five goals in the win.
Mary Pasquantonio tallied two while her sister
Kelly Pasquantonio scored twice and added three
helpers.
Jamie-Lee Whiteway stopped 10 shots in the win.
