Womens Lacrosse Earns Big 17-16 Win over Bentley Sunday

WALTHAM, MA – Christina McCarron scored
six goals, leading the Merrimack women’s lacrosse team to a
big 17-16 win over Bentley University Sunday afternoon.
The win puts the Warriors at 4-3 in the Northeast-10 and puts them
in prime position to finish in fourth place in the conference.
Merrimack ends the season with three home games in four days,
beginning Wednesday against American International College at 6
p.m.
Lauren Leddy broke a 14-14 tie with a man-down goal on a
free-position shot with 18:54 remaining in regulation.
Colleen Strachan and McCarron followed with goals
48-seconds apart to give the visitors the three-goal lead. But
Bentley responded, getting two goals, cutting the lead to one at
17-16 with 7:26 remaining. But the Warriors held on, as Bentley
drilled a post in the waning moments, while Jamie-Lee
Whiteway stopped 13 shots in the game for the win.
Merrimack trailed 3-0 early, but scored five of the next six goals
to take the 5-4 lead. They never led by more than three goals but
never trailed for the remainder of the game.
McCarron finished with six goals and seven points, scoring on
every shot she got on goal, while Leddy tallied four goals.
Kelly Pasquantonio tallied a goal and an assist,
while Maddie Basile scored twice and added an
assist.
Alyssa Ritchie and Jaclyn Griffin each scored five times for the
Falcons, who scored just once in 13 free-position attempts.
