Womens Hoops Falls to Saint Michaels 62-49 Saturday

COLCHESTER, VT – The Merrimack women’s basketball
team dropped a 62-49 decision to Saint Michael’s College
Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 game.
Merrimack trailed for nearly the entire game as Saint
Michael’s shot 50% from the field and from behind the arc in
the first half and took a 37-22 lead to the locker room at
halftime. Alexis Keller posted 17 first-half points while
converting four of the five three’s that she attempted.
The Warriors rallied late, scoring five straight points, including
a three from Gennifer Roy (Granby, MA), to cut the
lead to eight at 55-47 with 2:10 to play. But that was as close as
the Warriors would get as Mandy Scott drained a three with 1:20 to
play extending the lead to 11 and squelching any chance of a
Warrior comeback. Merrimack outscored the hosts 27-25 in the second
half.
Amanda Shannon (North Andover, MA) scored a
team-high 18 points, making four of her five field goals from
behind the arc. She was the only Warrior in double figures.
Hannah DeGraffinreed (Raleigh, NC) grabbed 10
rebounds and scored eight points, while Tiffany Colon
(Lawrence, MA) added seven points on just 2-of-12
shooting. Merrimack shot 31% from the field and made nine
three-pointers in 30 attempts.
Keller finished with 26 points and five three-pointers while
grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Logan Pintka added 13 points
as Saint Michael’s improved to 8-6 overall, 5-5 in the
northeast-10.
The Warriors (3-10, 2-6 NE-10) return to action Wednesday at Saint
Anselm at 7 p.m.
