Sabadoz Secures Second Straight Player of the Week

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – For the second straight week, sophomore Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, ON) of the Merrimack men’s soccer Warriors (4-3-1, 2-1 NE-10) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for his part in leading the Warrior offense over a 1-1 week.

In what has quickly become the highlight of a dazzling year for Sabadoz, the sophomore scored two goals and assisted on another in a 3-2 double-overtime win over Stonehill College on Tuesday in Easton. Not only did Sabadoz score the game-winner, he delivered the heroic strike 36 ticks before time expired after senior captain Greg Motta (Saunderstown, RI) fed him in transition.

In a 2-1 loss to Franklin Pierce on Saturday, the Warriors fell in conference play, but Sabadoz prolonged his goal-scoring streak to six games with his eighth goal of the year. Having played only six games this season due to an injury, Sabadoz has gained the respect of many, including his coach Tony Martone.

"Robbie continues to play well and he is making the most of finishing his opportunities," Martone said. "He has been very consistent since getting over his early season injury, and is doing a lot of other good things on the field besides scoring goals.”

Sabadoz leads the Northeast-10 Conference in not only goals per game (1.33), but also points per game (2.67) in just his second year on campus.

The Warriors return to action on Wednesday in Manchester, New Hampshire to take on the top-ranked Penmen of Southern New Hampshire at 7:00pm.
