EASTON, MA – The Merrimack men’s soccer team tuned
up for the upcoming Northeast-10 Tournament with a 6-1 win over
Stonehill College Tuesday afternoon.
The Warriors finish fifth in the conference with a 10-4-3 overall
and a 7-4-2 conference record. They will travel to either UMass
Lowell, Le Moyne or Franklin Pierce on Sunday for a quarterfinal
match (time TBA).
Freshman Robbie Sabadoz netted his first career
hat trick and added an assist. On his first goal, he took a through
ball 30 yards out, faked out his defender and then the goalie, for
the easy tap in.
Snapping a season-long three-game winless streak, Maxime
Obongono and Evan Burokas each tallied
their first goals of the season, with Burokas his first collegiate
goal. Eric Gomes added another while Wayne
Sygove earned an assist. Obongono’s came at just
1:03, and it was 3-0 20 minutes into the game. Burokas also notched
a helper giving him his first three-point day.
Stonehill finishes its season 4-10-3 (1-9-2 NE-10).
