Paradis Late Goal Gives #10 Mens Soccer 2-1 Win

WALTHAM, MA – Sophomore midfielder Ben Paradis
(Tiverton, RI) scored in the 74th minute to give the
10th-ranked Merrimack men’s soccer team the 2-1 victory over
rival Bentley College Wednesday afternoon.
The Warriors, ranked first in the east region, have won two
straight and have rebounded nicely after a two-game winless
streak.
With the score tied at one, Paradis fired a shot from 10 yards out
on the left side that beat Falcon goalie Michael Nikiforov for his
first of the season.
Bentley broke a scoreless tie at 18:31 as Josh Trubow picked up his
first of the season by gathering in a loose ball off a corner kick
and firing it past Rob Pedra (South Hamilton,
MA).
The Warriors evened the score less than six minutes later as
freshman Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, ON) continued his
torrid start, taking a lob pass from Paradis and putting it home
for his conference-leading sixth of the season. Sabadoz has goals
in five of seven matches this season, and Merrimack is 5-0 when he
scores.
Pedra stopped six shots in the win, as both teams fired 11 shots,
led by three from Matt Sanderson (Saugus, MA).
Merrimack (5-1-1, 2-1 NE-10) hosts American International on
Saturday (1 p.m.) at Warrior Field.
