#8 Men's Soccer Ties Post, 1-1

NORTH ANDOVER, MA - The Merrimack College men's
soccer team, ranked eighth nationally, played to a 1-1 draw with
Post University on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field in the
Merrimack Invitational Tournament.
Senior Tiago Dalboni (Medford, MA) opened the
scoring for Merrimack 6:05 into the first half, dribbling past
senior goaltender Michael Aeschliman for a wide open shot, earning
his second goal of the year. Francis Eno evened the score 6:19
later, finding an open net with 32:36 remaining in the opening
frame.
Making his first collegiate start, Doug Carvalho (New
Bedford, MA) finished the day with four saves in the
Warrior goal, while Aeschliman stopped four shots for the Eagles as
well.
Eno had had the best scoring opportunity to earn the win with 7:40
remaining in the second overtime, finding a clear path to the goal,
but Pedra made the save to preserve the tie. Just over a minute
later, freshman Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, ON) almost
managed a breakaway, but Aeschliman was effectively able to cut off
his route before he was able to take the shot.
In the earlier game, Dominican College defeated Saint Anselm
College, 2-1, thanks to goals by Dan Kelly and Joe Wright.
Merrimack will play again on Sunday at 2 p.m. when the team will
take on Dominican, while Post and Saint Anselm will meet in the
early game, scheduled for noon.
