Mens Soccer Kicks Off Season at Doubletree Classic Friday

COLCHESTER, VT. - The men's soccer team will open its 2008 season Friday in the Doubletree Invitational against Felician College at 2 p.m.
The Warriors round out the tournament, hosted by Saint Michael's, Saturday against Molloy at 10 a.m.
Led by captain Matt Sanderson (Saugus, MA), Merrimack, who was picked to finish fifth in the Northeast-10 in the preseason coaches poll, will host Saint Anselm in the first match of a four-game homestand on September 6 at 6 p.m.
Tony Martone's squad features 11 newcomers, including six freshmen, as well as last season's leading scorer Tiago Dalboni (Medford, MA).
Merrimack just missed out on its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth last season after dropping the Northeast-10 Championship 2-1 to Southern Connecticut. The Warriors did upset the eventual National Champion Franklin Pierce, becoming the only team to defeat the Ravens last season.
