Welby, a 2001 Merrimack graduate, is entering his fourth season
as the volunteer goaltending coach for the Warriors. Welby was a
four-year player for the Merrimack hockey program and is the only
goaltender in Merrimack history to lead the team to the Hockey East
semifinals. He finished his career with a 3.61 goals against
average and a .896 save percentage in 81 games played.
Welby has served as a goaltending consultant for USA Hockey for
the last five years, evaluating players at different age groups. He
has also worked at All-American Goaltending Camps for the last 10
years.
Welby currently works as a medical representative for Medtronic.
He lives in Windham, N.H. with his wife Katherine (Cote) Welby, a
2001 Merrimack graduate and former captain of the women’s
soccer team and their son Jack.
