Duncan Earns All-American Honors by NABC

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Darren Duncan (Briarwood, NY) earned his second All-American nod in as many days as the junior captain was named to the 2009 State Farm Division II All-American men’s basketball team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Duncan, who was also an NABC preseason All-American, was a Daktronics All-American third team selection on Monday.
Duncan, the first All-American in Merrimack men’s
basketball history since 1983, led the Warriors to the NCAA East
Regional semifinals for the first time since 2000, leading the
conference in scoring and assists. He ranked second nationally with
230 assists.
Duncan is one of two Division II point guards to be named a
finalist for the Bob Cousy award, given to the top point guard in
the country in all collegiate divisions. The lone captain on a
Warrior squad that posted a 21-9 record, he has been named a
Northeast-10 All-Conference first-team selection for the second
straight season and was a preseason NABC All-American.
The only other player named to the team from the east region was
Bentley’s Jason Westrol.
