Mens Basketball Earns #4 Seed in First Regional Rankings

NORTH ANDOVER, MA. – The Merrimack men’s basketball
team is ranked fourth in the east region in the debut of the
2008-09 NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Regional
Rankings.
The top eight teams in each region will qualify for the NCAA
Tournament when the final rankings are released on March 8. The
regional rankings will come out every Thursday.
The Warriors, tied for first place in the Northeast-10 with
Stonehill, Bentley, and UMass Lowell, earned the fourth seed behind
top-seed and unbeaten C.W. Post and conference foes Stonehill and
Bentley. Lowell was ranked fifth, with Assumption, Bloomfield and
Adelphi rounding out the top eight.
Last season, Merrimack qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the
first time since the 1999-00 season, earning the eighth seed.
The Warriors (15-4, 11-3 NE-10) visit Bentley on Saturday at 3:30
p.m. in a first-place showdown at the Dana Center in Waltham.
