Mens Basketball Cruises to 95-69 Win over Post; Takes on Bentley Tuesday

BRIDGEPORT, CT – The Merrimack men’s basketball team
improved to 9-1 overall with a 95-69 victory over Post University
Tuesday afternoon at the Bridgeport Holiday Classic.
Preseason All-American Darren Duncan (Briarwood,
NY) led the way, posting a double-double on 22 points and
12 assists and grabbed six rebounds. Duncan was 12-for-14 from the
charity stripe converting 12 of the Warriors’ 23 free
throws.
The Warriors shot 58.5% from the field in the game, including 64%
in the second half as they racked up 56 second-half points.
Roland Davis (Deer Park, NY) added 20 points off the bench
in 28 minutes, including a team-best four three-pointers.
Darin Mency (Hagerstown, MD) (15 points),
David Kennedy (East Northport, NY) (10 points) and
Craig Woehnker (Colts Neck, NJ) (12 points) also
were in double-figures for Merrimack.
The Warriors led 24-23 midway through the first half but finished
the game’s first 20 minutes on a 15-4 run to take a 39-27
halftime lead. They cruised from there scoring nine of the first 10
points in the second half to build an 18-point lead.
Merrimack (9-1, 5-1 NE-10) returns home to face rival and two-time
Northeast-10 and Northeast Regional Champion Bentley on January 6
at 7:30 p.m.
