Mens Basketball Improves to 8-1 with 92-71 Win over Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT – Darren Duncan (Briarwood,
NY) led Merrimack with 24 points and seven assists as the
Warriors had six players in double figures in the 92-71 victory
over Bridgeport Monday at the Bridgeport Holiday Classic.
Darin Mency (Hagerstown, MD) added 15 while
Roland Davis (Deer Park, NY) added 14 off the
bench as Merrimack shot 56% from the field in the second half. The
Warriors converted 11 three-pointers on 25 chances, led by four
from Mency. Chris Winters (East Lyme, CT) tallied
a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Wayne Mack
(Paterson, NJ) and Craig Woehnker (Colts Neck,
NJ) each added 10 to round out the double figure scoring
for Merrimack.
The game was tied at 39 at halftime, but the Warriors used a 19-4
run midway through the second half to run away with their third
straight victory.
Duncan, who is second in the Northeast-10 in scoring and first in
assists and steals, was 7-for-11 from the field and 9-for-11 from
the free throw line.
Bridgeport’s Teairez Stennis led all scorers with 29 points
and added 15 rebounds.
Merrimack (8-1, 5-1 NE-10) will take on Post University on Tuesday
at the Bridgeport Holiday Classic before returning home to face
rival Bentley on January 6 at 7:30 p.m.
