Mens Hoops Host Assumption in Early Season Showdown

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack men’s basketball
team takes on Assumption College in a big matchup Wednesday night
at 7:30 p.m. at the Volpe gym.
The Warriors, picked to finish second in the Northeast-10
preseason poll, defeated St. Thomas and Mercy at the Lowell Tip Off
Classic last weekend. Assumption, picked third in the preseason
poll, is 1-1 after defeating New York Tech and losing to
Bridgeport.
Preseason All-American Darren Duncan is just 56
points shy of 1,000 career, while freshman Wayne
Mack led all scorers with 20 in the win over St. Thomas.
Last year’s Northeast-10 Freshman of the Year Darin Mency
tallied 23 in the rout of Mercy on Sunday.
Merrimack is looking to return to the NCAA Tournament for the
sixth time in its history and for the second straight season.
Following Wednesday’s game, the Warriors will take on UMass
Lowell in a conference game on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Lowell
before returning home to take on Southern New Hampshire on Monday
at 7:30 p.m.
