Daugherty Dons NE-10 Freshman of the Year; Germano, Otis Honored

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Helping Merrimack College to a program-record 12 regular season wins and a home playoff berth, senior Jaclyn Germano (Westwood, MA) and freshmen April Daugherty (Lincoln, RI) and Jen Otis (Penacook, NH) have been named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Teams.

With a team-leading 38 points on 11 goals and 16 assists, Daugherty was named the Co-Rookie of the Year while collecting First Team and All-Rookie Team honors. At 2.00 points per game, she led all freshmen in the Conference and ranked fourth overall. Daugherty also led the Conference in assists per game with 16 in 19 regular season games.

As part of a formidable freshman trio, Daugherty teamed with classmates Otis and Katie Zubkus (Dover, NH) to help Merrimack to a six-game win streak in September and a national ranking for four straight weeks to end the season, topping out at No. 8.

Otis received recognition of her own on the Second Team and All-Rookie Team as she scored 37 points on the year and led all Northeast-10 freshmen with 15 goals. On the year, she was a three-time Division II Rookie of the Week and two-time Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week.

Germano was named to the All-Conference Second Team for her part in a second-ranked Warrior offense (3.24 goals/game) in the Northeast-10. She scored 16 goals in 19 starts and scored multiple goals on six separate occasions.

The first 30-point scoring trio in Merrimack field hockey history travels to Stonehill College for the program’s first-ever semifinal matchup with the top-seeded Skyhawks on Saturday at 11:00am in Easton, Massachusetts.
