Suozzo, O'Brien Earn Weekly Conference Honors

EASTON, MA – Freshman quarterback J.R. Suozzo
(Everett, MA) was named the Northeast-10 Player and
Freshman of the Week Monday. In addition, Mike
O’Brien (Marlboro, MA) earned the Defensive Player
of the Week Honors.
In his first collegiate game, Suozzo threw for 246 yards and three
touchdowns, while rushing for 59 yards and a score, as Merrimack
defeated Pace 31-28 Saturday.

O’Brien picked off two passes, including one on the final
drive to seal the win for the Warriors, who improved to 3-2 on the
season.
Suozzo and O’Brien are the fourth and fifth Warrior football
players to earn conference weekly honors, joining Kurt
Leone (Marshfield, MA), Tony Johnson (Lynn, MA) and
Andrew Jackson (New Britain, CT). In addition,
J.D. Wild (Martha’s Vineyard, MA) was the
D2Football.com National Defensive Player of the Week after the
Bryant game.
Merrimack hosts Saint Anselm Friday night at 7 p.m.
