Football Picked Fifth in Northeast-10 Preseason Poll
FOXBORO, MA - The Merrimack football team has been picked to finish fifth in the Northeast-10 according to the conference's preseason poll.
Under first-year head coach John Perry, the Warriors open their season September 6th against Husson College at 1 p.m. at Warrior Field. Merrimack finished the 2007 season 4-6 overall, 4-5 in conference.

Southern Connecticut, who advanced to the Sweet-16 in last year's NCAA Tournament, received seven of eight first-place votes and 63 overall points. The Warriors, who beat SCSU in New Haven last season, host the Owls on September 27th at 1 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend.
Bentley placed second, receiving 53 overall votes and one first-place vote, with American International and Stonehill ranking third and fourth. The Warriors, who garnered 33 overall points, were four points behind Stonehill.
The Warriors are led by their three co-captains, preseason All-American Andrew Jackson (New Britain, CT), Chris Laham (Westwood, MA) and J.D. Wild (Martha's Vineyard, MA).
Assumption, Pace, and Saint Anselm round out the eight-team poll, in sixth, seventh, and eighth place.
