Football Closes Out Season with 45-22 Loss to C.W. Post
BROOKVILLE, NY. – The Merrimack football team closed out
its 2007 season with a 45-22 loss to C.W. Post Saturday afternoon
in a Northeast-10 game. The Warriors finish the season 4-6 overall,
4-5 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
Wide receiver Chris Laham (Westwood, MA) tied the school record for
receiving touchdowns in a season with 14 as he had two receiving
touchdowns, catching passes from Colin Temple (Rutland, VT) who
played in his final collegiate game.
Temple also moved into second place all-time in the Northeast-10
for career passing touchdowns, passing Tom Guy. Temple finishes his
career with 74 touchdown passes and 24 this season, both school
records.
The Pioneers scored the game’s first 24 points before Temple
and Laham connected on a scoring play just before halftime.
Temple passed for 287 yards on 25-of-44 passing but was intercepted
four times. Mike Young (Norwood, MA) had 97 total yards, 67
receiving and 37 rushing.
A team that was picked to finish second in the conference in the
preseason standings, Merrimack started 1-4 and could never recover.
Its only noteworthy win was a 34-20 road victory over Southern
Connecticut, a team most likely heading to the postseason.
