Amanda Nicoles joins the Athletic Training staff in the fall of 2009 at Merrimack for her first year with the College as Head Athletic Trainer. Nicoles comes to Merrimack from Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts where she assumed the role of Head Athletic Trainer as well as Associate Director of Compliance for the Athletic Department.
At Pine Manor, she fulfilled the role of Head Athletic Trainer for
all varsity sports and was also an approved Clinical Instructor for
the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education
(CAATE).
Prior to Pine Manor, Nicoles was a member of the Athletic Training
staff at the University of Miami for the men’s and
women’s cross country teams, and the track and field teams.
As a Clinical Instructor for the CAATE at Miami, she also worked
with Olympic athletes by developing rehabilitation and treatment
programs.
Nicoles graduated from Boston University in 2004 with a
Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training before completing
her Master’s of Arts in Kinesiology at California State
University – Fresno. During her coursework at Fresno, Nicoles
served as the Sports Medicine Graduate Assistant, primarily working
with football, but also men’s and women’s golf and the
cheer teams.
Alongside Dr. Paula Quatromoni at Boston University, Nicoles has
also been involved with a grant and research proposal to the
National Athletic Training Association (NATA) pertaining to
‘Nutritional Habits of Socioeconomically Diverse
Student-Athletes and the Affect of a Comprehensive Nutritional
Education Program’.
Nicoles has also provided athletic training services to programs
such as USA Gymnastics, USTA Tennis and the Boston Marathon.
A California-native, Nicoles currently resides in Allston,
Massachusetts.
