Dean O’Keefe enters his second year as the Assistant
Athletic Director for External Relations. He is responsible for
handling all sponsorships, fundraising and marketing efforts in the
athletic department.
O’Keefe spent six years at the National Basketball Hall of
Fame as the Vice President of Marketing & Sales. He was
responsible for marketing, sales, advertising, public relations and
special events for all facets of the organization. He managed
numerous special events, including the NCAA games, and NBA All-Star
and NCAA Final Four press conference and marketing events. He also
prepared and presented the successful bid to host the NCAA Division
II National Championship.
He has also spent six years at Six Flags in New England as the
Director of Marketing, the Senior Marketing Manager, and the
Promotions Manager. O’Keefe has also worked for the Olympic
Soccer Organizing Committee, World CUP U.S.A. in 1994, and intern
at the NBA in Corporate Communications.
A 1994 graduate of Stonehill College, O’Keefe was a
four-year starter for the men’s soccer team before graduating
with a degree in American Studies with a minor in Communications.
He earned his Master of Arts in Education, with a Sports Management
major from the University of Connecticut in 1996.
O’Keefe and his wife Candace, have two children, Siobhan and
Seamus.
